I'm Matt.

I’m a developer, strategist, and designer based in Pittsburgh, PA. I’m originally from West Virginia and will talk to you forever about games, traveling, books, and all things UX. I like to build web applications, web sites, and IP for humans. I have dabbled in game development as a hobbyist and love board games. I have traveled quite a bit and even lived abroad in France. I definitely have an adventurous side and it has taken me to some amazing places. Feel like chatting? Let's grab a coffee and chat!

My career so far...

I have been working at CGI Inc. for going on two years now working in their HCx division. Currently, I am working as a UX generalist and solutions architect with a strong skillset in both development and design.

I came to CGI after serving as executive director, developer, and designer at Tech Serving Society. This non-profit was the result of entering and winning the Pittsburgh Technology Council's and RustBuilt's Civic Hackathon. My project, ineedashot.org, was developed to solve the terrible problems with COVID-19 vaccination distribution site for the state of Pennsylvania and its effects on its citizens.

This hackathon win came shortly after graduating Academy Pittsburgh with a diploma in full-stack engineering. Since graduating I have been developing and designing as a freelancer and am working on several projects currently.

Most of my development experience before Academy was in front-end development in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with template CMS's like WordPress. Despite working with templates, I have always delved into custom development and how back-end programming and systems operate.

I have found new love for the entire software development process and am dedicated to a life of building technology rooted in human centered design. I have had a long career in the technology space, from IT to the business side, but I have finally found my calling. It is something that I truly love and can't wait to discover and develop new things every day.

Volunteer work

I care about children and helping the underprivileged. Today a lot of people talk about change and what should be, but do nothing about it. I believe in making change and that the only way it can happen is by ling these words.
